2017 Teaching and Learning Boot Camp and Quick Start to Teaching for Student Success

Dates: Wednesday, August 16th & Friday, August 18th
Time: 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (registration at 8:30 a.m.; program starts at 9:00 a.m.)
Location: Wednesday, August 16, 2017 will be held in the MSU Union, room UB 50 (Garden Level)
Friday, August 18, 2017 will be held in the MSU Union, Lake Huron Room (3rd Floor)  
Effective Teaching and Learning Boot Camp is an introductory workshop designed to help faculty who are relatively new to teaching to prepare for their courses and to work with students. Over two days, instructors will explore, actively exchange, and apply knowledge and ideas concerning pedagogy, practice, and design elements key to creating engaging learning environments.
The focus is on developing practical materials that instructors will be able to use immediately in their teaching. Topics to be included:

  • Aligning Course Objectives, Activities and Assessments
  • Syllabus Design
  • Student and Classroom Issues
  • Technology Resources
  • Learning Outcomes Assessment
  • and other essential teaching and learning topics

Location: ANH 1281, Anthony Hall 
This portion of the Teaching and Learning Boot Camp will provide an overview of policies and hands-on problem solving related to important issues including:  

  • accessibility of course materials
  • accommodations for person with disabilities
  • promoting student privacy & academic integrity
  • promoting environments free of sexual discrimination and harassment
